Realignment Update
March 2008

The Council Realignment Committee met on March 11, 2008 at the offices of Greenspoon and Marder in Boca Raton. Here are the highlights of the discussions and decisions from that meeting.

CEO Search
The CEO Search Committee is working with GSUSA and their national recruiting firm on the search for the CEO. They expect the search to get underway soon.

Property
Questions and Answers addressing concerns regarding council property, including camps and buildings, will be drafted and added to the Realignment News website.

Finance
A budget for the new council is being worked on by staff and volunteers. The committee is working on selecting a bank for the new council. The committee recommended, and the CRC approved, the accounting software to be used by Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida.

Communication
A draft communication plan for realignment was presented to and approved by the CRC. Implementing the plan will be coordinated by staff with guidance from the Communications sub-committee.

The CRC approved the committee’s recommendation that the official abbreviation for Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida be GSSEFL.

The committee presented September 6 as the date for the merger vote and Unity Celebration. The date was approved. The day will be 2 events:

  • A governance meeting where delegates from each council will vote on the merger agreement; and
  • A celebration tentatively planned for Roger Dean Stadium.

The council website, www.girlscoutssefl.org is now live and serving as the Realignment Information page. The committee is in the process of developing a web plan, including seeking bids for the development of a site for the new council and gathering input from membership on site content.

Human Resources
The development of a personnel handbook is complete. The committee is now working on developing the benefits package for staff of GSSEFL.

Service Delivery
The Service Delivery Committee is working on recommendations of policies for GSSEFL. They will also be adding Questions and Answers to the Realignment News website to address questions and concerns from volunteers. The committee reported that MegaEvents is the new name for large council events.

Governance
Bylaws were adopted and are available by clicking here.

Transition Nominating Committee
The committee is working on identifying potential board members for GSSEFL.

The Council Realignment Committee will meet again by teleconference on April 22.
