Realignment Update
April 2008

The Council Realignment Committee met on April 22, 2008 by teleconference. Here are the highlights of the discussions and decisions from that meeting.

CEO Search
The CEO Search is underway and the committee has outlined a timeline for the search process. Interested candidates will have until May 16 to apply; the search committee hopes to conduct interviews in early June and make its recommendation to the Council Realignment Committee later that month.

Finance
Drafting of the budget for the new council is in process and volunteers and staff are working together to ensure that realignment costs and the costs of the final audit of both councils is included in the budget.

Communication
The Unity Celebration event will take place on September 6 at Roger Dean Stadium and will include a world record breaking service event. Our application to “ Guinness World Book of Records" has been approved. The Celebration will follow the Delegate meetings which are planned for that morning at FAU.

Development of a new council website was discussed and the CRC requested that three proposals be secured and a recommendation and budget be presented at the May meeting.

Human Resources
The benefits package for the new council is being developed and expected to be completed soon. Preliminary executive management structures for the new council have been developed and will be submitted to Girl Scouts of the USA for recommended salary structure.

Service Delivery
The committee is working on the development of policies needed for day one and the transition, and on a camp reservation policy that will be in place in time for camp reservations to begin. The Archive committee is working on a plan for the preservation of the history of both Councils. The Adult Recognition Committees from both councils will merge to become one and will keep all recognitions for 2009.

Governance
The committee presented preliminary plans for the vote on the merger agreement package. Delegates from each council will meet separately, but concurrently to discuss and vote on the merger agreement package. All delegates will then come together. No amendments to the merger agreement package will be permitted from the floor.

Transition Nominating Committee
The work of this committee is complete and recommendations will be presented at the May CRC meeting. Given that information from other merged councils has suggested the first year is a transition and requires time and energy, they are recommending that the officers be elected for one year and that board members from legacy boards also be elected for one year. All will be eligible for additional terms. New members who are not currently service on legacy boards will have a two year term. This will allow for staggered terms and for those who want to support the transition but not continue on the board.

Technology
The Councils are working with a National Operational Volunteer from Jacksonville and the focus is moving forward on all systems required for Day One.

The Council Realignment Committee will meet again on May 28 at the Jupiter Service Center.
